● no + 명사

- Danny said he has no time to play golf this weekend. Danny가 이번 주말은 골프 칠 시간이 없다고 말했다.
- We need to finish this project on time with no exceptions.우리는 예외가 없는 한 정시에 이 프로젝트를 끝내야해.
no = not a = not any
'no 명사'를 'not a 명사'로 바꿔쓰면 부정의 의미가 강조
no laughing matter = not a laughing matter
● no + 형용사
no 다음에 형용사가 오는 경우. no good, no fun
- That shot was no good. My ball went into the water.그 샷은 정말 아니었어. 공이 물에 빠졌다.
- His long boring speeches is no fun.그의 지겨운 말을 듣는 것은 노잼이다.
- The boss said my report was no good so I have to do it over again.보스가 보고서가 별로 좋지 않데, 그래서 나는 다시해야 한다.
● not + 형용사
형용사 앞에 not을 붙여서 반대의 뜻
- The food in that restaurant is not expensive but it’s also not very delicious.그 식당의 음식은 비싸지도 않고, 그렇다고 그렇게 맛있지도 않다.
- Danny’s jokes during the meeting were not helpful at all. He should be more serious.회의 중에 Danny의 농담은 전혀 도움이 되지 않았다. 그는 좀더 진지해지는게 좋겠어.
- It’s not easy learning a second language but it’s not impossible either.외국어를 배우는 것은 쉽지 않아. 하지만 또한 불가능한 것도 아니야.
● not + 동사
동사 앞에 not이 와서 부정문. 물론 be동사일 경우에는 뒤에 not.
- I am not going to the party tonight.나는 오늘 파티에 안갈꺼야.
- Danny does not like to play golf.Danny는 골프 치는 것을 좋아하지 않는다.
- We don’t have enough paper to print that report.우리는 그 보고서를 프린트하는데 충분한 종이가 없다.
● 문장 마지막 not
문장을 다 말하고 나서 마지막에 not을 붙여서 부정 의미
- That party was fun. Not! 파티 재미없어.
- Joe is the smartest guy in the class. Not! Joe는 우리 반에서 똑똑한 녀석이다. 아닌데!
- Tommy is the best looking guy in our office. Not! Tommy는 우리 사무실에서 제일 잘생긴 남자가 아니다.
