‘의미 강화’ 표현들은 보통 비교급에서 사용. 그렇지만 이 표현들은 ‘접속사’입니다. 철자에서 보듯이 'much(still) more, much(still) less' 구문들은 의미상 댓구를 이룬다.

'much(still) more' 표현은 현대 영어에서는 잘 쓰이지 않는 ‘옛스런’ 말
‘not to mention, as well (as), in addition (to)’ 등으로 쓰는 것이 더 낫다.

하물며, 더군다나 ~은 아니다.
'much less, still less'는 부정의 뜻을 가진 문장 뒤에서 의미를 강화
(1) He can't speak English, much less Latin.
= He can't speak English, still less Latin.
(그는 영어를 못한다, 하물며 라틴어야)
(2) He doesn't have a car, much less a sport car.
= He doesn't have a car, still less a sport car.
(그는 차도 없다, 하물며 스포츠 카야...)
= He doesn't have a car, let alone a sport car.
‘much less, still less'는 유통기한이 끝난 ’much more, still less'와 달리, 널리 사용
‘much less, still less'는 ’not to mention, let alone' 등으로 바꾸어 쓸 수 있다.
[주의]
'not to mention'은 긍정, 부정문 둘 다에 쓰인다. 그러나 'let alone‘은 주로 부정문에만 사용.
