The FBI released new security footage Tuesday as authorities continue to seek more information about the person who placed pipe bombs outside the Republican and Democratic party headquarters in Washington, DC.

Authorities have said the bombs were planted between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. on January 5, the night before the Capitol riot.

The new footage shows the suspect wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a mask in four separate clips.

The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying the elusive figure, and said it was offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the suspect’s location, arrest and conviction.

Japan’s government has decided to stage the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics without overseas spectators because of fears among the population over the potential spread of Covid-19.

The opening ceremony of the torch relay on 25 March will also be held without spectators, reported the Kyodo news agency, citing officials with knowledge of the matter.

The report was played down by the International Olympic Committee, which said no decision on overseas spectators had yet been taken.

Most Japanese people fear a large influx of international visitors could spark a resurgence of coronavirus infections.

A recent poll found that 77% of Japanese people did not want international visitors to attend the Games with 18% in favour.

Coastal communities are experiencing sea level rise four times worse than global water rise, according to a new UK study released Monday.

Groundwater pumping, extraction of materials from the ground and sediment production are all happening near the coasts and that is causing the land to actually sink -- compounding the effects of a rising sea level.

It is no coincidence that these are the same locations where people live, worsening the impacts and increasing the vulnerability.

Many of the largest, most populated cities in the world are built along the deltas of major rivers, where there is the added exposure of rivers connecting to the ocean.
