군사력뿐만 아니라 경제력, 외교력 등을 합산해 평가하는 ‘세계에서 가장 강력한 국가’ 조사에서 한국이 지난해보다 2계단 오른 6위를 기록했다.
지난달 31일(현지시간) US 뉴스 앤드 월드 리포트(USNWR)가 발표한 2022 세계에서 가장 강력한 국가(the planet’s most powerful countries) 조사에서 미국과 중국, 러시아가 나란히 1, 2, 3위를 기록했다.
이 조사는 세계 85개국을 대상으로 1만7000명에게 설문조사를 실시하는 방식으로 정치, 경제, 군사력은 물론 국가 영향력도 평가 대상에 포함하고 있다.
1~3위인 미국, 중국, 러시아에 대해서는 큰 이견이 없을 것으로 보인다.
USNWR은 미국을 “세계에서 가장 지배적인 경제 및 군사 강국”이라고 칭하며 “문화적으로도 음악, 영화, 텔레비전으로 표현되는 대중문화에 의해 전 세계에 퍼져 있다”고 평가했다.
다만 인종차별 시위를 포함한 미국의 사회·경제적 문제와 불안에 대해서도 지적했다.
4위 독일, 5위 영국에 이어 한국은 6위를 차지했다. 이 조사에서 한국의 순위는 지난해 8위에서 2계단 올랐다.
USNWR은 한국의 첨단 서비스 기반 경제에 주목하면서 “국민총저축(GNS)과 외국인 투자규모가 세계에서 가장 큰 나라 중 하나”라고 소개했다.
